Using Eleventy to Create a Static Website

Illustrated content blocks passing through a website-building machine

I just couldn't bring myself to install Wordpress on a Linux box and I wanted to try something new. My last site got hacked and moving to a static website should alleviate this issue. I had a google and came accross Eleventy. I had never heard of it before but it seemed quite simple from the home page. It took about five minutes to set up within ten I had a working website.

The idea is that you write your website in HTML and markup and it gets processed into an expanded fulle site, whch you then publish. I know nothing about markup. I didn't find the documentation that useful and relied on good old ChatGPT for most of the instructions and workflow. Still, it worked. With Bootstrap as the frontend toolkit I got something quite nice to look at with minimal work.
